Stories, Rumors & Gossip

Interesting project that led up to releasing one single (I’ll Be Good, Tomorrow) and almost a second one (Heading for the Sea). Ideas were plentiful, further recordings and a full album often discussed, but never turned into reality …

Lyrics

“I’ll Be Good, Tomorrow”, BetterB.NiftY
She was as hot as a rock in the desert
And had the looks that could turn a man blind
Yet she was with a man and I was with my wife
So I’d thought I’d be good and get on with my life
But then our eyes met and I felt the fire
That raged inside that curvy allure
I felt dizzy and my world started spinning
I was jinxed by her beauty with no hope for a cure

So I tipped the young waitress to pass her my note and confess the desire I had
My intentions were so bloody blatantly clear
I’d cross any border
I’d pay for it dearly
She seemed as thrilling as to run the ‘encierro’
A case of ‘go for it or die on the way’
But I felt if I commit to the ride of my life
I better shut out reason as I might not survive

So we ended up where these stories end up
In a dodgy room just off the highway
I could swear there was a slight scent of sulphur
But I had never feared no evil, so I started to play
There was vine, there was love
Then came the whisky and pills
And everything after was blurred
There was sweat, there was blood
There was choking and cuffs
It got physical beyond belief

I'll be good, tomorrow, I'll be good some other day
I'll be good, tomorrow, I just don’t feel like starting today
I'll be good, tomorrow, I'll be good some other day
I'll be good, tomorrow, I just can't be bothered to start today

She was as cold as a January morning
When I woke to find me cuffed to the bed
On telly ran a cheesy old western
I glanced across the room and saw she was dead
I can’t remember how I managed to get out
I was too hammered to try to think straight
It took a fair bit of booze to sober me up
And focus my mind on the options I got
Then came the panic, the shakes and the pain
A lifetime I’d be on the run
For a minute I had thought about turning me in
But then I just bought a gun

I'll be good, tomorrow, I'll be good some other day
I'll be good, tomorrow, I just can't be bothered to start today
I'll be good, tomorrow, I'll be good some other day
I'll be good, tomorrow, I just don’t feel like starting today
